Telford inclusive figure skaters bring home the gold!
A skating team coach is 'thrilled' following the outstanding results achieved by their team at the Inclusive Skating World Championships.
Team Carter, composed primarily of skaters with additional needs, competes in the Inclusive Skating events, where inclusivity, collaboration, and individual progress are celebrated.
The results from the competition: • Gold Medals: 41 • Silver Medals: 6 • Bronze Medals: 3 • Top 5 Placements: 52 • World Records: 2
Sarah Carter the team’s coach said: “While we never compete solely for medals, these results highlight the incredible dedication and teamwork of our skaters and their families.
"By fostering a supportive environment where every individual can thrive, we’ve shown that collective effort leads to remarkable achievements, I am immensely proud of each and every one of them.”
As part of our celebrations and to coincide with World Ice Skating Day, we are delighted to announce a special presentation ceremony this weekend, when Councillor Angela McClements, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism, Culture & the Arts, will present medals to our skaters at 9.30am on Sunday at Telford Ice Rink. This event will not only recognise their achievements but also celebrate the spirit of inclusivity that defines our sport.
"I would also like to extend our gratitude to Telford & Wrekin Council through the support provided at Telford Ice Rink including the coaches and management." added Sarah. "Their encouragement and resources play a vital role in helping our skaters achieve their best."
