Oswestry Town Mayor, Councillor Mike Isherwood, attended to present the trophies and Kelly Clarke from Border Gymnastic & Oswestry Community Games was the 'Master of Ceremonies', alongside head coach, Blake Strefford.

The evening was a great success with families enjoying bingo games, raffle and an auction to raise much needed funds for the club.

Club Chairman, Clive Knight commented: “It was fantastic to see so many families enjoying the evening and to celebrate our young tennis players. The club wishes to thank all the local companies that supported the evening with donations and raffle / auction prizes and the parent group who helped to deliver the event. We raised over £800 toward the clubhouse and all the children had a wonderful time  – congratulations to the award winners.”

Oswestry Team Tennis is a junior-priority tennis club based in Cae Glas Park with children playing most weekday evenings and on Saturday mornings. The club is also a charity and is busy raising funds for a new clubhouse, which will provide toilets, refreshments and shelter to all those that play there.

Clive adds: “Oswestry Team Tennis is very much a community club, based in the heart of the town’s Cae Glas Park. While we are predominantly a junior club, we also offer coaching to adults of all ages and abilities and in 2025 we hope to offer walking tennis for those with limited mobility. We are the only LTA affiliated club in Shropshire without a clubhouse and it’s our mission to put this right in 2025. We want to grow our club and offer affordable, recreational tennis for everyone to enjoy. Having a clubhouse will encourage wider participation and provide a focal point and a meeting place for members and visitors. We are nearly there, but we need to raise an additional £15,000 to get the clubhouse over the line.”
