Shrewsbury care home resident plants acer tree to create ‘lasting’ memory in celebration of 90th birthday
As the tree grows, it will serve as a reminder of her special day and the love and support of her family.
HC-One's Lime Trees Care Home in Shrewsbury, have marked a resident’s 90th birthday by planting an acer tree to create a “lasting” memory in celebration of her life.
The care home recently marked resident Doreen James’ very special birthday milestone in a heartfelt and memorable way. In honour of the occasion, Doreen’s family gifted the home an acer tree, which was lovingly planted in the care home’s gardens.
With the help of family members, the tree was carefully planted to create a lasting tribute to Doreen’s remarkable life. Doreen, known for her vibrant personality, was overjoyed by the gesture.
As a child, Doreen was evacuated to Wiltshire and lived in a cottage. She revealed her passion for gardens and wildlife, as this reminds her of life in Wiltshire.
As the tree grows, it will serve as a reminder of her special day and the love and support of her family. It is a lasting memory that everyone at Lime Trees will cherish for years to come.
Doreen said: “I’m pleased with it. I had a miserable morning and there’s nothing like planting a tree to raise your spirits! We’ll get to see it grow every year.”
Karen Williams, Home Manager at Lime Trees Care Home, stated: “We’re so grateful to Doreen’s family for their thoughtful gift. It is wonderful to see families invest in our gardens and leave a lasting mark, especially in honour of such a significant occasion.”
