Bookings are being taken for a Medical Futures Conference which is being hosted by an award-winning independent school.

In-person and online options for attendance are being offered by Shropshire’s Concord College for the all-day conference on March 1.

The Acton Burnell-based college says the popular event is aimed at year 11 and 12 students from across the county, as well as the West Midlands and Welsh Borders, considering a career in medicine.

The conference will cover all aspects of the highly selective admissions process to enable a student to make a competitive application to medical school.

In addition, there will be opportunities to talk to practicing doctors, medical, dental and veterinary students and experts in the admissions field from 20 different universities.

There will be short talks on life as a medical student, interview technique and work experience. In addition, there will be assistance with University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) as well as workshops offering hands-on clinical skills.

Concord itself has an enviable history of supporting students with ambitions to study medicine. Last year alone 29 Concord students went on to study medicine, dentistry or to become vets.

Concord College advise that there are limited places for both booking options and priority will be given to students in year 12 attending state schools. However, the college hopes to accommodate as many students as possible either in person or online.

For those attending all-day in person the conference includes a free lunch and transport from Shrewsbury to Concord College.
