Peter Love, a member of Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club, came under the clippers of hairdresser Matt Glover at Risdon’s Barbers, Market Hall, Shrewsbury, to raise money for a charity which he is inviting to apply.

“With Rotary’s support I shall have a three-figure sum to donate to a charity - with one stipulation,” said Peter.

“Members agree that whichever charity applies must be prepared to offer Rotary their hands-on support at one of our Christmas fundraising events.

“This is our busiest time of the year and therefore the need to have volunteers prepared to give some of their time to helping us will mean money for their charity.”

Fellow Rotarians David Morris (president), Fred McDonogh (immediate past president), Donald Thompson (past president) and Alun Humphreys all braved a cold winter’s afternoon in town to offer their support of the charity beard shave.

And Peter was certainly feeling the effects of losing his warm and lengthy beard immediately he stepped outside the Market Hall. “I felt the cold straight away, but my one consolation of losing the beard is that Rotary will hopefully be helping a deserving cause,” he added.
