Shrewsbury Dogs Trust has almost two dozen affectionate pups who are waiting to be taken in by new loving owners.
The Shropshire Star has rounded up all the furry friends waiting for a family to call theirs - from the "lively and clever" border collies to an American bully with the "biggest smile".
Bunsen
Breed: Border collie
Age: Seven months
Described as “lively,” and “very clever,” Bunsen can’t wait to be trained and kept busy with his “sharp mind.”
He would be comfortable in a farm or peaceful country area as he can get anxious about new settings.
Cody
Breed: Chihuahua
Age: Two years
Once this “loyal and loving companion” gets used to new people, he will blossom into an affectionate best friend.
Cody thrives with lots of company and gets on well with other pets and teenagers, in a secure home.
Gorgeous George
Breed: Mastiff cross
Age: Nine years
This “friendliest” dog has Dogs Trust wondering why he is yet to find a forever home, as he loves to play and explore on walks.
He gets on well with teenagers and would love to be the only dog to soak up all the love and affection.
Ben
Breed: American Akita cross
Age: One year old
Ben is described as a “clever chap” who loves to learn new things - especially if he is rewarded with delicious treats.
This “bouncy” boy can live with children of primary school age and would love lots of enthusiasm that could match his own levels.
Frank
Breed: Chihuahua cross
Age: Two years
Frank is a small dog with “a big personality and an even bigger heart,” and he enjoys playtimes, especially with toys.
This social dog thrives with other pets and primary school children, who would love bonding with him. He is always up for a new adventure.
Toasty
Breed: American bully pocket cross
Age: Five to seven years
Toasty enjoys car rides and loves to go on walks. She boasts the “biggest smile” that the Dogs Trust team has seen, once she gets adjusted to new people.
She will be the most comfortable as the sole pet in an adult-only calm setting, as the noises from a busy area can stress her.
Jake
Breed: Akita cross
Age: Five years
This smart dog blossoms into a playful personality after he gets used to new people and is described as a “total sweetheart".
Jake would love to be the only dog in a lovely adult-only home, as he has a jealous trait and loves to be the favourite.
