A packed Theatre Severn was dazzled by sparkling costumes, smiles and wit in a hilarious production which was full of surprises.
The audience were taken on a wild ride to Hamelot, where Princess Aurora, played by Shropshire lass Lauren Lane, had her finger pricked on the spinning wheel by the wicked Carabosse (Gemma Sutton). Could Prince Michael (Christian Southway), with the help of his merry gang of heroes, awaken the princess and save the day?
Legendary dame and one-man/woman quip machine Brad Fitt led the way once again as Nurse Nellie, with jokes almost as outrageous as his/her wardrobe. Watch out for her appearance in her toy soldier outfit... a genuine laugh-out-loud moment.
Britain’s Got Talent star Tommy J Rollason was also returning for his third panto in Shrewsbury as the loveable joker, Jangles.
With every “Hiya gang!”, Tommy is fast becoming a Shrewsbury panto legend in his own right, bringing his boundless enthusiasm to the stage.
He showcased the fabulous juggling skills with knives and flames which earned him a standing ovation from David Walliams and raucous cheers when he auditioned for BGT.
And his chemistry with Brad just gets better every year. They clearly love being on the stage together. It was difficult to tell whether the various chaotic mishaps were scripted or real, but either way, the popular duo had the audience in stitches.
