Darren Pugh says his father fell outside his home in Mount Pleasant Road, Shrewsbury last Tuesday evening.
The pensioner, who doesn't want to be named, lay on the pavement for more than an hour, before a neighbour arrived and called for help.
“He'd been there since about 6.30pm. An ambulance was called but they were told it would be about three hours, so his neighbour took him to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital," said Mr Pugh.
“The hospital did not want to admit him, despite him having a head injury, so they sent him in for a scan on his head at the neuro clinic.
“At 1.45am they released him and stuck him home in a taxi.”
