AFC Telford United sign midfielder on loan from Championship club
AFC Telford United have completed the loan signing of midfielder Harry Hawkins from Derby County.
Hawkins, 18, is eligible to travel with the Bucks to Royston Town on Saturday after his registration with the Southern League went through in time.
He becomes the second loanee in Kevin Wilkin's squad, joining Jakub Kruszynski, who signed on loan from Mansfield Town last month.
Hawkins was one of several players to join Derby County’s under-21s squad full-time in the summer of 2024 after two years with the under-18s.
He was rewarded with a two-year scholarship after excelling at youth level in the 2021/22 campaign, during which time he was named the academy player of the year.
The youngster also earned a spot on the bench for the first team during their EFL Trophy clash again Manchester City Under-21s at Pride Park in October 2022 and was involved in the matchday squad again against Wolves Under-21s a year later.
He has made nine appearances in Premier League Two for Jake Buxton’s under-21s side to date this season before being given the opportunity to head to Shropshire.
