Wolves have endured a poor start to this season, which has left O’Neil’s position under serious threat – though it appears increasingly likely he will lead the team at West Ham on Monday.

Fosun are keen for Wolves to be self sustainable, which means selling their biggest assets to reinvest in the team, and they did sell Max Kilman and Pedro Neto in the summer.

But that puts pressure on the recruitment department to unearth the next gems at a cut price every year.

Despite the poor form this year, O'Neil had an impressive first season in charge at Wolves and believes success can be delivered in this current ownership model.

"No, I think we proved last year that we can do it," O'Neil said.
